The Law Offices of Cheryl Lynn Hepfer

Firm Overview

This Montgomery County firm of family law lawyers was founded by Cheryl Lynn Hepfer, who served as President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers from 2005-2006. Joined by Geraldine Welikson Hess, also a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Firm has put together a team of experienced lawyers and paralegals who handle every area of family law. Cheryl Lynn Hepfer, Geraldine Welikson Hess, Sharri B. Freedman, Eden Terenzini and David J. Marquardt work as a team. One of us is your primary attorney, but you will benefit from our collective experience and expertise. We discuss our cases together to explore all possibilities to help our clients. Either one or more of us will represent you at various times. Ms. Hepfer has been in practice since 1972, and together, the firm‘s lawyers have more than 50 years of experience in family law.

As family law attorneys, we provide advice and quality services regarding divorce, alimony, child custody, child visitation, and child support. We have experience in complex property distribution cases and provide advice to our clients regarding the consequences of property distribution. Our office also provides information developed by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) regarding parental rights, avoiding conflict, and keeping children out of conflict during separation and divorce.

As soon as you sign our retainer, you join our team. We know the law, the process, and the court personnel. You are the expert on the facts and events in your life. We rely on you to give us all the information we need to put the evidence before the Court. We will assure that you understand the process.

Our staff will work closely with you. The first contact with our office will be with our administrative assistant, Aimee. Joanna will help you understand your bill. Each of the family lawyers in the office works closely with our paralegals, Maria and Lisa. Feel free to ask them questions and share your concerns with them. They will answer your questions if they can. They are not attorneys and cannot give legal advice. Nonetheless, they can provide invaluable assistance.

This team concept of the Firm allows us to provide quality attention and quick responses to the needs and questions of all our clients. Most questions can be answered by the paralegal who is familiar with the case. If it becomes necessary to secure information from a family law attorney, calls are returned in a timely manner. By working together, the attorneys and paralegals are able to make efficient use of time and Firm resources, which benefits our clients.

The Firm‘s office is in Rockville, Montgomery County. We serve clients in neighboring Prince George‘s, Frederick, Howard, Anne Arundel, Calvert and Charles Counties as well.
